COVID response numbers

After a COVID outbreak last summer, the R.I. Convention Center is back in business. Once a field hospital, the 167,000-square-foot event space helped the state recover from the crisis. Located right next to the Dunkin’ Donuts Center, the convention center was an ideal location for the state to gather after the outbreak.

Rhode Island will receive nearly $1.5 million from FEMA for its response to the virus. The funds will go to the Rhode Island Department of Health for pandemic-related expenses. These include testing, contact tracing, and daily case notification to the public. The funding will cover a six-month period, from September through December 2020. In total, the state will receive almost $291 million in pandemic-related funding.
